9 A Travis County Sheriff’s Office diver recovered a body beneath the Mansfield Dam bridge on Monday night. Authorities believe the body to be a suicide victim.
Austin Police Department and the sheriff’s office scoured the area below the bridge after getting a call at 7:47 p.m.
APD Lt. Dana Brockington said officials would not release details on the deceased, pending notification of next of kin.
I witnessed this happen. pretty scary thing to see.. I wish I could have helped him.
Actually, Lake Travis Fire Department deployed a rescue swimmer after the subject was witnessed jumping from the bridge. The individual was recovered shortly but pronounced dead by fire personnel.
i was on the bridge 10 mins right after it happened.
My mom and I where coming home from dinner and where also on the bridge like 10 or so minutes after it happens. We live near the park. My regards go to his family and friends.

@ Kyle: ACTUALLY, EMS deployed rescue swimmers as well who located the body and obtained the pronouncement, since fire departments in Travis County are not allowed to obtain pronouncements!!
