After months of investigation, Lakeway police closed in on Jeff Layne Draper, 47, of Cedar Park who turned himself in on a charge of online harassment July 21.
Draper allegedly duplicated a Lakeway man’s Facebook page and referenced a pedophilia website on it.
Detectives began their investigation in January after the victim reported that an unidentified suspect used photos and other identifying information from the victim’s page to replicate an imitation, police said.
“[The victim] stated there were also numerous comments on the website that stated he was a homosexual and liked children,” Lakeway police wrote in Draper’s arrest affidavit.
When detectives determined the suspect’s IP address and contacted the victim with Draper’s name, the man reportedly indicated that he knew Draper and felt he “would do something like this to harm his name,” the report showed.
Online harassment is a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
