With help from their friends, the Gormans have raised money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis for many years.
Currently, Bridget and Michael Bertram with Lakeway Papa Murphy’s are helping find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis by donating a percentage of their sales from April through the remainder of July.
“Just clip the form — or make sure to mention you saw it — the next time you visit their business in the Randall’s shopping Center in Lakeway,” said Dallas Gorman.
Dallas said her favorite is the Mediterranean Delight with artichokes added, but says all the pizzas are great.
“Papa Murphy’s also have wonderful salads and lasagna. They even have cookie dough for that special treat to take at the last minute party,” she added.
Here are some other ways you can help the Gormans raise funds for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis:
n Make plans to attend the 65 Roses Gala Saturday on Dec. 11, 2010 located at the downtown Hilton from 7 p.m.-midnight. There are all levels of sponsorship available at this time. Buy a corporate package or individual tickets. This party will have a beautiful winter theme.
Contact the CF Foundation at 512-338-1744 for additional information.
n Directly donate on your credit card to the Gormans CF Walk by going to: http://www.cff.org/Great_Strides/dsp_DonationPage.
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease that causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive tract. It is one of the most common chronic lung diseases in children and young adults, and may result in early death.
Cystic fibrosis is caused by a defective gene which causes the body to produce abnormally thick and sticky fluid, called mucus. This mucus builds up in the breathing passages of the lungs and in the pancreas, the organ that helps to break down and absorb food.

* Go to the Randall’s customer service department and request they code your Randall’s Card with number 4168. Then a portion of your purchases will automatically be donated directly to the CF Foundation.
* If you have a business or an idea to help the Gorman’s raise funds, contact them at 512-261-6276 or the CF Foundation at 512-338-1744. Finances are tight and even a little can add up to a lot!
* Volunteer! The CF office is located on Bee Caves Road and we have many events which need volunteers: Our Sports Challenge is November 6th at the Texas School for the Deaf and the Rick Barnes Golf Classic is Monday, September 13th at UT Golf course and the 65 Roses Gala is on December 11th at the downtown Hilton.
Cystic Fibrosis is rated a top 10 charity by Money Magazine with approximately .90 of each dollar going to research. The life expectancy for children with Cystic Fibrosis continues to improve each year thanks to your generous donations.
Dallas began fundraising after her daughters were diagnosed with the disease. Since that time, the Gorman’s have met many families (several in the Lake Travis community) who struggle with the complications of CF. “Over the years, we have lost several friends to this disease which makes us even more determined.” Said Dallas “We are very grateful for this wonderful community and the support we have received over the years. Our family is truly blessed.”
The Texas legislature passed and funded Newborn Screening earlier this year due to the efforts of the March of Dimes and CF families like the Gormans. Early detection is important for the well being of children born with CF. Please contact the CF Foundation at 512-338-1744 for additional information.
