Melinda Osburn has a goal — she wants to climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro…
It’s no easy feat. She took her request to the Lake Travis/Lakeway Rotary Club recently.
“I need your support to motivate me up to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro,” Osburn said. “If I know that climbing that mountain will improve the lives of other then I will give it my best shot to make it to the top. I just can’t do something like this without a good reason to do so. Here is how you can help.”
Osburn is hoping through her efforts to raise enough awareness and funds to cover the Rotary Club’s portion of the Future Match Grant project for clean water in Belize and other countries.
“I chose the Clean Water project because everyone can relate to having or not having clean water. It is my hope also this year to make sure that every man, woman, and child in Lakeway/Lake Travis area, knows what Rotary does by the end of this year,” Osburn said. “Hopefully this Clean Water Cause will make the Newspapers, our own website, the District web site, and ESPN Outdoor Radio Show hosted by our own member Christ James.”
All donations made are tax deductible and will head stay to causes and then one big check will come straight to the Club’s Foundation.
“If you would like to follow the blog that Tim set up for this Kilimanjaro trip, you can by clicking on the link below and then clicking on link at the other links on that page,” she said. “Then click follow, and it will add you to the list so you can get the updates. My wonderful husband of 22 years, Tim Osburn is doing the updating for now.”
Rest assured, Osburn said the trip would be totally paid for by them.
“No funds raised for the Clean Water Project on my causes link will go to benefit me in any way,” she said. “All funds raised will go to Clean Water Project Via the Rotary Club of Lakeway/Lake Travis.
Osburn said she had a “special thank you for Heather Jennings, Executive Director of The Rotary Club of Dallas for putting the causes link together for them and being the first sponsor.
