school

Calling all parents and guardians of four-year-old children in the Lake Travis Independent School District.

Student registration for the District’s Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) program will be held from 3:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 10 at each LTISD elementary school campus (Bee Cave, Lake Pointe, Lake Travis, Lakeway, and Serene Hills).
Regardless of where a child is registered, all Pre-K students will attend half-day classes at Lake Travis Elementary School only. Child Inc., an early childhood education program which administers Head Start, will partner with LTISD.
To be eligible for enrollment in Pre-K, a child must be four (4) years of age on or before September 1, 2010 and must:
3 Be unable to speak and comprehend the English language; or
3 Be educationally disadvantaged (qualify for free/reduced lunch); or
3 Be homeless, as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 11302, regardless of the residence of either parent of the child, or of the child’s guardian or other person having lawful control of the child; or
3 Be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; or
3 Be the child of a member of the armed forces of the U.S., including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces who was injured or killed while serving on active duty.
To register a child, parents or guardians must present the following documents:
3 Picture identification of the parent or guardian who is registering the student (driver’s license);
3 Proof of residency, i.e., lease agreement, property deed, sales contract, or property tax statement for homestead;
3 Original county- or state-issued birth certificate; photocopies will not be accepted;
3 Social Security Number (preferred, but optional); if this cannot be furnished by the parent or guardian, the child will be assigned a state ID number;
3 Proof of income if the student qualifies due to being educationally disadvantaged (based on family income);
3 Proof of military status if the student qualifies under Requirement #4 or #5; and
3 Immunization records (see chart).
In order for a student to attend school, his/her immunization record must be current unless the parent has filed an exemption with the Texas Department of Health in accordance with Texas Education Code Chapter 38§38.001. For a complete listing of state vaccine requirements and information on exemptions, visit the Texas Department of State Health Services Web site at www.dshs.state.tx.us. Additionally, information pertaining to Pre-K registration is available in Spanish on all LTISD District and campus Web sites.
