Deacon Boyce Allen Foreman, 77, of Lakeway, died after a brief illness on Dec. 24, 2009. Born on Jan. 14, 1932, in Port Arthur, he was the oldest son of Lehman “Bob” Foreman and Lucille Nelta Newsome Foreman. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leslie Boyd Foreman. Boyce married his high school sweetheart, Glenda Marie (Chauvin) Crist, on June 3, 1951.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, and in 1954 he received his B.S. with honors in Mechanical Engineering from Lamar State College of Technology in Beaumont. Upon graduation, he worked for Schlumberger in Louisiana. After moving to Houston in 1962, he worked for Texas Instruments until retirement in 1991. In 1992, Boyce and Glenda moved to Austin, Texas where he worked with his sons at Guiltless Gourmet, and in 1994, they settled in Lakeway.
Boyce was ordained on May 30, 1981 in the second Diaconate Class of the Houston — Galveston Diocese. He was assigned to St. Anne Catholic Church in Houston. In 2000, he was assigned to Emmaus Catholic Parish in Lakeway, where he served until his death.
Boyce loved the church, children and grandchildren; he loved fishing, eating crawfish and dancing with his wife, Glenda. He was very active and loved hiking and biking with his grandchildren, and going to the gym. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Glenda, and his six children and their families: Denise Medina and husband, Ralph of California; Dianne Foreman of Bellaire Texas; Doris Crouch and husband, Hubert of Dallas, Texas; Douglas Foreman of Austin, Texas; David Foreman and wife, Betina of Austin, Texas; Daniel Foreman and wife Jacquelyn of Austin, Texas. Ten grandchildren: Jason and Corbin Medina, Michael and Kristen LaRocca; Jonathan Deen and wife, Maria; Dalton, Evan, and Brycen Foreman; Danielle and Jack River Foreman; two step- grandchildren: Bert Crouch and wife, Haylie; Adair Webb and husband, Clark. One step- great- grandchild: Caitlyn Crouch.
The family thanks Dr. Shobha Reddy, Dr. James Pohl, Dr. Jordan Weingarten, the ICU nurses at Seton Medical Center, especially Suzanne, Monica, and Rachel.
A Vigil Service was held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 at Emmaus Catholic Church.
