Pedro Herrera, former resident of Apache Shores and a long time employee at Live Oak Golf Course, passed away at St. David’s Round Rock Hospital on Dec. 7, 2009 after a lengthy illness.
Born near Sabinas, Coahuila, Mexico on May 19, 1940, Pedro married his wife Noralicia in 1964, and moved to the Lakeway area with his family in 1972. All five sons graduated from Lake Travis High School. Two sons went on to graduate from UT-Austin and another from MIT. His grandson currently attends UT-San Antonio.
Pedro worked at Live Oak golf course for more than 25 years, where he was the Irrigation Maintenance Supervisor. Following retirement from Live Oak, he began a local landscaping business.
Pedro was an avid fan of baseball, golf and boxing. He enjoyed working outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren.
Pedro is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Manuel. He is survived by his wife Noralicia, his sons (Jose, Rosalio, Ricardo, Pedro and Rodrigo), two brothers (Norberto and Martin-Mario), three daughters-in-law (Santa-Teresa, Jennifer and Stephanie) and six grandchildren (Ricardo, Angelica, Tomas, Emilio, Sarina and Adan).
Pedro’s friends and family will remember him as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who worked hard to provide for his family and who was always there for his friends.
A service was held for him on Dec. 11, 2009, at 2 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Services in Austin.
