For the second consecutive year, the Lake Travis High School Cavalettes collected more coats than any other participating area high school in the annual Coats for Kids community project.
Coats for Kids collects and distributes warm winter coats to eligible children and teenagers in Central Texas.
Each year, the Junior League of Austin, Jack Brown Cleaners, KASE 101, and KVUE News do their part to ensure that the children of Central Texas stay warm. The Cavalettes collected a total of 157 coats, winning the High School competition in the process.
The Cavalette Coat Drive was facilitated by the Cavalette Dance Team Social Officers which include Caitlin Alexander, sophomore; Stacey Arnold, sophomore; Lizzie Engelbrecht, junior; Rachel Graham, junior; Caroline Golson, sophomore; Susannah Kosty, senior; and Kirstin Reistad, senior.
“This is my favorite part of Cavalettes,” said Kirstin Reistad, “when we have the opportunity to give back to our community and make a difference.” The Social Officers would like to thank Lake Travis High School, the Cavalette Dance team, the LTISD Office of Extracurricular Programs, and the Lake Travis community for their generosity.”
