Westlake Dermatology, Central Texas’ leading provider medical dermatology, cosmetic procedures and plastic surgery, announced today the opening of its Lakeway offices located at 401 Ranch Road 620. This office opening brings the number of Westlake Dermatology locations serving the greater-Austin area to five.
The Lakeway location will be staffed by Dr. Amin Mery, the only board certified Allergy and Immunology practitioner in Lakeway and one of the few practicing west of Highway 360. A native Texan, Dr. Mery received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and completed his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio. He then performed his residency at Brackenridge Hospital of Austin as part of the Austin Medical Education Program. Mery completed his fellowship in adult and pediatric allergy and immunology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he performed research in mast cell biology, a critical component of allergic disease. Dr. Mery’s advanced training gives him an exceptional understanding of the clinical aspects of asthma treatment, as well as a myriad of immunologic disorders. Dr. Mery is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.
“Lakeway and surrounding area residents have typically had to travel to North Austin or downtown to have access to allergists and dermatologists,” said Dr. Gregory Nikolaidis, president of Westlake Dermatology. “Now Lakeway residents will have access to the same level of services found in Austin Dallas, Houston and other major cities.”
In addition to Dr. Mery, the Lakeway office will also be staffed by Dr. Christopher Jones and Piipar Allen, PA-C. Dr. Jones completed his dermatology specialty training at Penn State Dermatology, where he served as Chief Resident in his last year. He received his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, completed medical school at The University of South Alabama College of Medicine and his internship in Internal Medicine at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Jones completed a fellowship at Stanford University in Cutaneous Oncology, with a focus on Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma, and participated in several clinical trials involving the development of new cancer treatments. He is interested in medical and cosmetic dermatology and has co-authored a book chapter and several scientific articles.
Piipar Allen, PA-C, Certified Physician Assistant, has been with Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery since 2003. She earned her Master of Clinical Medical Science from Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences Physician Assistant Program in Miami Shores, Florida. During her Physician Assistant studies, she received academic recognition and was nominated to the Dean’s List and President’s List for scholastic excellence. Piipar is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
