The Lake Travis Circle of Friends is gearing up for its fifth-annual benefit concert and auction, and this year’s event brings a major change to the Miracles concert.
For the first time, the concert and auction will take place on Lake Travis. The concert, featuring Haywire, takes place on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Villa Del Lago pavilion overlooking Lake Travis. Villa Del Lago is located just south of St. Luke’s on the Lake Episcopal Church at 12400 Cedar Street.
The Lake Travis Circle of Friends hosted the first four benefits at Stubbs BBQ in Austin before deciding to move the event out to the group’s home base of Lake Travis.
“We were fortunate to have four very successful Miracles on Eighth Street events at Stubbs,” said Lake Travis Circle of Friends co-chairman Kelli Nokes. “This year we felt it was important to have the event in our community, where it was easier for our sponsors, their guests and the community to attend.”
Miracles on Lake Travis benefits the trauma department at the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, which just three years after its opening has developed into one of the busiest and best pediatric hospitals in the country. The award-winning facility has already undergone a pair of expansions as it serves the needs of children in a 46-county region around Central Texas.
“We’re looking forward to another fun, successful event with the support of our wonderful sponsors, donors and guests,” Nokes said. “We always have a great time, and this year we’re looking forward to continuing that tradition.”
In its four previous events, the Lake Travis Circle of Friends has raised more than $130,000 for Dell Children’s Medical Center as part of the foundation tasked with raising money for the hospital. Last year’s Miracles event raised more than $44,000 for the hospital, part of nearly $200,000 that Circle of Friends chapters around Central Texas raised to support the hospital.
This year’s Miracles on Lake Travis includes dinner provided by Rudy’s BBQ, music from the popular lake-area band Haywire, who performed at the event last year at Stubbs, games with fabulous prize packages and a live auction packed with items including a University of Texas football package, a golf getaway to Horseshoe Bay, a hunting excursion to the Bar None ranch, a weeklong trip to Acapulco and more.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets and tables can be purchased online prior to the event at http://www.childrensaustin.org/?nd=cof_laketravis. Reserved seats at tables are $120 each. General admission tickets are $75 each. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event.
The Circle of Friends network is a part of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation, the fundraising arm for Seton’s Dell Children’s Medical Center. The network was originally founded to raise money for the construction of the hospital, which was completed in 2006. Once the hospital opened, each chapter chose a department to support. There are 13 Circle chapters around Central Texas, each doing its part to make sure the hospital continues to have what it needs to perform miracles for the children who need them.
