Golfers hit the greens to raise some green on Sept. 30 at the Lake Travis Education Foundation’s seventh annual “Fore” the Kids Golf Tournament at Flintrock Falls Golf Course.
Excitement was in the air on the gorgeous fall day when Randy Cieslewicz nearly sank a $1 million shot in the hole as his ball landed in the sand bunker within a larger hole.
The BlueCross BlueShield team of Kevin Daly, Jeff and Josh Jacobi and Ronny O’Neal took first place for their dead-on shots.
Amid fibs about some of their scores, golfers dined at an evening awards banquet to entertainment by the Lake Travis High School Jazz Ensemble.
The buzz translated into bucks toward the foundation’s support to Lake Travis Independent School District schools and students through teacher grants and student scholarships.
Tournament chair Steve Harvey and LTISD Superintendent Dr. Rocky Kirk teamed up to take on the links and benefit the cause.
“We are ever so grateful to the Lake Travis Education Foundation for their continued support of our students, teachers, and staff,” said LTISD Superintendent Dr. Rocky Kirk.
Since 1985, LTEF and its supporters have raised and donated more than $2.25 million in grants to fund various instructional programs and projects in the district, including classroom materials, teaching aids and other items that have been used to expand learning opportunities in mathematics, science, social studies, art, music, engineering, bilingual education, character education, special services, and other academic areas.
“Through its generous contributions, the LTEF board and its membership prove that ‘to excel, every student needs a good foundation,’” Kirk said.
LTEF officials were equally as appreciative of the community’s support.
“The Lake Travis Education Foundation greatly appreciates the fantastic level of sponsorship and participation as usual from this giving community,” Executive Director Paula Baczewski said.
LTEF’s next event is its 25th Anniversary Crystal Ball, scheduled for Feb. 13, 2010, at the Renaissance Austin Hotel. Details are available at www.LakeTravisEducationFoundation.org.
