Lakeway City Council members voted Friday in a special session to set a proposed property tax rate of 19.29 cents per $100 of assessed property value to fund the city’s proposed 2010 budget of $7.88 million.

Not too many people would view a wicker basket as a prison cell, but by the end of her three-day, 1,528 kilometer gas balloon flight Cheri White was glad to be free of her confinement in the 4.5-foot by 5-foot waist high capsule that held her aloft from Geneva, Switzerland, over miles and miles of open water in the Mediterranean Sea to the southern coast of Portugal.

More than 600 parents recently received a letter from Lake Travis Independent School District informing them that Lakeway resident David Lovelace submitted a public information request Aug. 17 seeking the release of “any and all copies of photographs and media distributed by the district between January 1, 2009, until present.”
