Their business may be new to Lakeway, but Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes & Cremation Services is a name familiar to generations of Austin-area residents.

The family-owned and locally operated business that has served families in the Austin area for four generations celebrated opening its newest location in Lakeway with a ribbon cutting and open house Monday.
“More than anything else, our facility brings funeral and cremation services that have not been here before,” Managing Partner Laurens Fish III said.
Before the opening, residents of Lakeway, Bee Cave, Hudson Bend and Spicewood would travel 25 to 30 minutes for such services. According to the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce, the area’s population is estimated to grow by 15 percent in the next five years.
Fish III said the company’s 127 years of family business would support its staff members who not only live in the area but also are active in the dynamic communities.
The Lakeway location will employ seven full-time and part-time workers. Longtime funeral director Mike Foskey, who works at the North Lamar location and lives in Lago Vista, has been promoted to manager of the Lakeway facility.
The 10,000-square-foot funeral home sits on nearly 2.5 acres at 411 RR 620 South. The new building features an open floor plan, wireless Internet connections, audio-visual equipment and a reception area with a catering kitchen.
“It is a needed facility. We are glad to have this here,” an impressed Lakeway Mayor Dave DeOme told the gathering, which included Laurens Fish Jr., at the ribbon cutting Monday.
The funeral home’s grand opening from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 27 will be open to the public and feature food, beverages and tours of the grounds.
“The Weed-Corley-Fish family is pleased to be expanding into the Lake Travis area, where residents will be treated to the same kind of service that people in Austin have appreciated and trusted for many years,” Fish said.
The company also has locations on North Lamar and South Congress.
