Another week of romps has Lake Travis (29-3) sitting pretty in both Central Texas and 4A overall.
The Lady Cavaliers are ranked No. 2 in Central Texas behind Westwood – one of the three teams they have lost to – and No. 3 in Class 4A.
Lake Travis opened play last week with a 25-13, 22-25, 25-20, 25-15 win over Bowie (18-12), notching a strong win over a perennial district contender in 25-5A.
Amy Neal led the Lady Cavaliers, as usual, collecting 16 kills and three aces. Lani Durio had 24 assists, Mackenzie Mayo had 26 digs and Morgan Hendrix had 3.5 blocks in the win.
Lake Travis followed that up with a convincing win over rival Dripping Springs (24-9), 25-19, 25-18, 25-23.
The Lady Cavs dominated the first two games, running away in both by easy margins, but actually trailed at one point in the third game, 18-11. Sparked by holing serve with Sammie Zonona serving, Lake Travis rallied and went on a 14-5 run to win the game and the match.
Neal led the team with nine kills. Durio had 12 assists, Mayo had 22 digs, and Taylor Smith had 2.5 blocks.
This week’s schedule includes matches at home against Del Valle on Friday and away to Lehman Tuesday.
