A Lakeway resident recently donated to the Lakeway Heritage Center military uniforms worn by her parents who served in World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam Wars.

“Included were the scores of ribbons earned by her father, including the Silver Star, Bronze Star, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge with Silver Star, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, and many campaign ribbons often earned by former military men and women with many years of service,” said archivist Michael Boston. “The uniforms were offered with the promise that they would be put to good use — and they will.”
The Lakeway Heritage Commission recognized the significance of the donation and, as a consequence, is seeking used mannequins or dress-forms in order to properly display the uniforms on days such as Veterans Day or Memorial Day. Any persons with such items wishing to donate should contact the Heritage Center at 608-9533, or Parks and Recreation at 314-7530.
