Steady growth in the Village of Briarcliff has led to the announced that L.J. “Lou” DeLira will be the community’s full-time Police Chief.

Since the summer of 2002, DeLira has been Briarcliff’s police officer on a part-time arrangement. Briarcliff officials felt this was a good time to provide additional public safety in the area.
“I believe in community policing — working with our local organizations to make the community safer,” DeLira said. “I have received great support from the local civic leaders.”
DeLira provides the Village of Briarcliff with a diverse criminal and administrative background. His background includes adult parole supervision; juvenile courts; police officer/investigator with the Houston Police Department; internal affairs investigator with the Texas Youth Commission; and recently as a state police/investigator with the Texas Racing Commission.
DeLira has lived in Briarcliff since 1998. His son, Andrew, is a 2008 graduate of Lake Travis High School and younger son, Dominic, is currently in the sixth grade. His wife, Kathy, is employed with IBM.
The family members are parishioners at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway. He is proud to serve the citizens and visitors of the Village of Briarcliff.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office will continue to serve the Village of Briarcliff patrol and emergency services.
