As Jesus tells His disciples, “One of you will betray me,” each disciple asks himself, “Is it I?” in a moving soliloquy in this dramatic presentation during Holy Week.

For the sixth year, The Lakeway Church is presenting moving drama, the Living Last Supper, based on a script by Ernest K. Emurian. Many in our Lake Travis area community are making this performance a yearly tradition to start off their Easter Season. There’s something a bit different this year; we’re sure those who have seen it before will be enthralled!
The performances are on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, April 8-9, at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary of The Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd, Lakeway. Reservations are not required.
Parents are encouraged to bring older children to the drama. There is no charge for these performances and childcare for younger children will be available beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The play takes place in the Upper Room; the set is based on da Vinci’s famous painting of The Last Supper.
Emurian said of his script: “I studied da Vinci and his inspiring picture and then proceeded to write the soliloquies for the Twelve Apostles as they might have expressed themselves immediately after hearing the Master say, ‘One of you will betray me,’ whereupon each man had cried out, ‘Lord, is it I?’ This was the moment Leonardo said he wished to capture in his picture.”
Once again, Lakeway’s own playwright, Sue Wright, will direct the thirteen men portraying Jesus and His 12 disciples as they take the audience back in time to the night before Jesus’ crucifixion when He shared the “last supper” with them. Participating in the play are Joe Pribyl as Jesus and Dabney Cauley, Frank Crone, Dave DeOme, Jose Garcia, David Godwin, Jim Grose, Max Henry, Chuck Long (Austin Christian Fellowship,) Wayne Meyer, Thomas Pollock, Mitch Rad and Larry Smith as His disciples. Bill Dickson is narrating again this year.

My church is Victory Baptist Church, Stevenson, AL and I believe we will enjoy this play. Thank you! Lisa Matthews

Could you please direct me to where I could get a copy of the play in order to perform same in our church?

  6. Could you please direct me as to how I could get a copy of the script for The Living Last Supper? Our Worship Ministry presented an adaptation of it in 2009 and we would be blessed to present the full script this year. Thanks so very much.

  7. My church in Fort Lauderdale (First UMC) did this on Maundy Thursday for many years. Not sure if they are still doing it, but I have the 1999 and 2000 year versions of it on video, which would help anyone needing to get a transcript of the soliloquies that are spoken, as well as setting this up for production. We used a canvas background that helped make the stage look exactly like DaVinci’s painting.

I honestly miss doing this every year during Holy Week, and wish my local church here in Hickory, NC would undertake this great Worship opportunity. If anyone has questions for me, please contact me at pwoeckener@gmail.com and I’ll see what I can do about getting you a copy of the video.
