Janet Wright — one of the founding members of the TexARTS Board of Directors and its most diehard volunteer and supporter — has been selected for recognition as an outstanding volunteer by the Ballet Austin Guild’s highly anticipated, 15th annual “Women on their Toes” Volunteer recognition luncheon on April 7.

Wright, who was nominated by TexARTS Executive Director and founder Todd Dellinger, in recognition of her extroardinary work not only on behalf of TexARTS but of helping to foster broader recognition and appreciation for the arts in the Capital Lakes Region, will be recognized at the event hosted by the Ballet Austin Guild at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Austin.

“We can’t say enough about Janet Wright.” Dellinger said of his nominee. “It is thrilling for all of us who know and work with her to have her recognized in a public way, at such a wonderful event and alongside other incredible women who give so much to the Austin region. She has been with us since the beginning, helping propel our vision for TexARTS forward with untiring devotion and commitment. From helping build awareness in the early days three years ago to helping sweep cement dust from the hallways during the creation of our studios at Lohman’s Crossing Plaza, Janet has been there every step of the way.”
In Dellinger’s three-page nomination, he wrote: “Janet Wright is an extraordinarily impassioned and tireless supporter of all arts and cultural activities, particularly in the Capital Lakes Region. In fact, it could be argued that Janet has, nearly single handedly, created an arts-minded community [through her service on the Lake Travis Arts League, the Lakeway Arts & Beautification Committee, TexARTS and others.]”
Now in its fifteenth year, the Ballet Austin Guild’s “Women on their Toes” event honors outstanding volunteers from Austin nonprofit organizations, ranging from the Junior League of Austin to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Texas. Just six extraordinary volunteers were recognized during last year’s event out of the scores of nominees submitted for consideration. For those interested in attending the event as members of TexARTS sponsored table(s), contact Todd Dellinger at 852-9079 extension 100 no later than March 1.
