Following their 72-34 defeat of Dripping Springs Tuesday night, the Cavaliers will face Schertz Clemens Friday night at Canyon Lake in the Area Championship at 7:30 p.m.

Clemens (18-15, 8-4) finished third in District 27-4A, behind Boerne Champion (31-5, 11-1) and Kerrville Tivy (18-14, 8-4).

Taylor Smith of Clemens is averaging 19.6 ppg and has collected 667 rebounds in 34 games, making him the fourth-highest scorer in the San Antonio area. At 6-6, the lanky Smith has a shooters touch and an inside presence.

Clemens’ point guard Quinton Hector is one of the best passers in the San Antonio area, racking up 5.2 apg with 165 rebounds in 32 games. He’s fifth in the San Antonio area in assists.
