The Travis County Sheriff’s office announced this weekend that they found the body of Brian Carl Beck, the suspect in the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse shooting.

A search team with a cadaver dog found the body in a steep ravine at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 near the area where Beck was last seen. Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and pronounced Beck dead about an hour later and the body was later identified by the County Medical Examiner’s Office.
“We’re not releasing any information about him, the body’s position or anything else at this point,” said Travis County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Roger Wade.
Wade said they would release more information once the autopsy report was complete.
“We are certainly relieved that he has been found and is no longer a threat to the community,” Steiner Ranch Steakhouse Co-owner Cosmo Palmieri said via e-mail.
The restaurant reopened last Thursday, four days after the tragedy, and Palmieri said they have had great support from the local community.
“Although we are encouraged by the support the restaurant has gotten since the re-opening we would certainly appreciate continued support of the restaurant by the local citizens coming in and dining with us,” he said.
Authorities say Beck walked into the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse Dec. 8 shortly before 4 p.m. and shot restaurant manager Christopher Martin several times at close range. Witnesses say Beck walked calmly out of the restaurant, even stopping to tell a witness hiding under a table, “Don’t worry, I’m not going to shoot you.”
Martin was pronounced dead shortly after police arrived on the scene. Beck’s white Chevy Blazer was found shortly before 5 p.m. on the 12000 block of Bullick Hollow Road. Sheriff’s Deputies, K-9’s (from the Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and cadaver dogs from Travis County Search and Rescue, Alamo Area Search and Rescue and Liberty Hill K-9), StarFlight and DPS Helicopters have been searching the area since the incident occurred.
