You better not miss out. You better stop by. You better sing loud, I’m telling you why. The Green Santa Sing Along is coming to town!
Seventy-three performers are ready to put on two spectacular shows to support the Green Santa program for the Eighth year in a row. Showings are at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Activity Center.
“The only admission is an unwrapped gift for a child up to age 17 that will be placed in the Green Santa bag. We always collect several pick up truck loads of gifts that are delivered to the Green Santa headquarters where they will be distributed to area children at Christmas time,” said Sing Along Chair Joann Anderson in an e-mail.
Martha Kubala is once again directing the show that typically draws about 800 people.
“This is a family show and there is something for everybody. At one point, the children in the audience will be asked to come up on the stage to participate in one of the numbers,” Anderson wrote.
There will be a box for gifts in the lobby of the Activity Center for anyone who wants to participate but can not attend the event.
“It’s such a worth while community project. It benefits many, many people in the Lake Travis area and helps them have a better Christmas,” Anderson said.
This holiday event is the culmination of a year’s worth of work by many dedicated volunteers. Ernie Clay directs the group’s annual spring show, proceeds from which go entirely to supporting the Christmas show.
All of the performers and workers are volunteers.
“We don’t audition, we don’t do anything like that. The sing-a-long is a family, we feel like we are one big family. Everybody enjoys it and we just have a lot of camaraderie in there,” Anderson said.
